No. 1374, State of Wisconsin, Shawano County, Gustav Handt personally appeared before the subscriber, the Cleark of the Circuit Court for the State of Wisconsin in and for said County, being a Court of Record, and made oath that he was born in Germany on or about the year 1860, that he emigrated to the United States and landed at the port of Sault St Marie on or about the month of April in the year 1902; that it is bona fied his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularily to the King of England wherefore he is a subject. signed: Gustav Adolpf Handt [in his own hand] Previously naturalized in Canada.

Circuit Court of Shawano Co. WI. In the matter of the petition of Gustav Adolpf Handt to be admitted a citizen of the United Sates of America. To the Circuit Court of Shawano County, Wis. The petition of Gustav Adolpf Handt respectully shows: First. My full name is Gustav Adolpf Handt. Second. My place of residencis is Green Bay street, city of Shawano, state of Wisconsin. Third. My occupation is Carpenter. Fourth. I was born on the 10th day of May, anno Domini 1860, at Province of Prussia Germany. Fifth. I emigrated to the United States from Sault St Marie, Dom. of Can. on or about the 25th day of April anno Domini 1902, and arrived at the port of Sault St Marie, in the United States, on the train. Sixth. I declared myh intention to become a citizen of the United States on the 4th day of August at Shawano Wis, in the Circuit Court of Shawano County, Wis. Seventh. I am married. My wife's name is Amelia Theresa Handt. She was born in Provence of Prussia, Germany, and now resides at City of Shawano, Shawano Co. Wis. I have nine children and the name, date and place of birth , and place of residence of each of said children is as follows: Margaret, born in Eganville, Canada, November, 1887, age 19 year. and resides at Town of Washington, Shawano, Co. Wis. Charley, born in Eganville, Canada, age 18 years, Madgalena born in Eganville, Can. age 13, Theresa born in Eganville Can. age 9 years, Hertha born in Eganville, Canada, age 8, Ferdinand born in Eganvill Can. age 7, Sophia born in Shawano Wis, age 5, Herbert born in Shawano, Wis, age 3, Freda born in Shawano, Wis, age 7 months and all except Margaret reside at Shawano Wis. Eight. I am not a disbeliever in or opposed to organized government or a member of or affiliated with any organization or body of persons teaching disbelief in organized government. I am not a polygamist nor a believer in the practice of polygamy. I am attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and it is my intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce absolutely and forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereigny, and particularly to Edward VII King of Great Britain and Ireland of which at this time I am a subject, and it is my intention to reside permanently in the United States. Ninth. I am able to speak the English language. Tenth. I have resided continuously in the United States of America for a term of five years at least immediatley preceeding the date of this petition, to wit, since the 25th day of April, anno Domini 1902, and in the State of Wisconsin for one year at least next preceeding the date of this petition, to wit, since the 27th day of April, anno Domini 1902.
