  1896 Enters Trinity College at Oxford. Graduated in 1900 with Bachelor of Arts. Obtained Second class honors in history. 1904 became Assoc. of Institute of Chartered Accountants and Fellow in 1912. Had partnership wiht Taunton School of Commerce. 1918 joined the Accountants Corps. Gazetted temporary 2nd Lt. on April 20, 1918. He then was Temporary Lt. in Nov 1918. Temporary Capt. Feb 15, 1919. He relinquished his commission on June 7, 1919. Vicar's warden of St Andrews Church in Taunton and Secretary of Taunton Nursing Institute.
