Bukcley, departure point was Hamburg, Germany around Jun 15th or 17th, they were at sea for 38 days arriving at the Port of New York around July 23rd or the 24th of 1843 with 142 or 145 passengers, records vary on teh amount of passengers. The Brig Edward was built in 1849 in Stonington, Connecticut by George Sheffiled. The ship had a displacement of 355 tons (Not 555 tons as mnay records indicate). The ship's dimensions were 105.6' x 27' x 14', the Brig Edward had one deck two masts and a square stern. Teh owners of teh ship were George Buckley of New York, William Jonathon, Andrew Lot, Moses and Carles Buckley of Southport, CN. The ships manifest indicates Martin's last place of settlement as Hackenwalde, this is also indicated in teh Hackenwalde Parish record #905026. The manifest further states that at the time of departure Martin Friedrich Christian was 50 years old, his wife Dorothea Sophia Nass was 40 and they had 10 children.
