Hello dear readers,
This is to notify you of a few changes. For those of you who have already registered, you should still be able to view our online portal. However, we have maxed out the number of users we can add to view our Google Drive folder. In order to keep these files accessible for you and new members, we have migrated our access to a private Google Group with a link to the files. Please do not share this link with anyone. It could compromise our ability to share these files with you. For our newest members, welcome to our online portal!
What does this mean? All that changes is that you will have the option to opt-in for email notifications when new content is posted. Additionally, you can take part in a larger online community of people searching for similar topics as you by posting to our new forum–it’s a feature that came with the group. We respect your privacy and have taken several precautions during the migration to the new sign-in:
1.) All member information has been marked as private so no one else can see you unless you post.
2.) I have defaulted your email preferences to “none.” This way, you won’t have your inbox flooded. You can change these settings yourself to opt-in for notifications when someone posts to the forum, change profile information, etc. Please note you can remove yourself from the group at anytime, but it will also remove access to the portal.
This is not something we anticipated happening, but we believe this solution will benefit all of our users and make our online portal easier to access. It has also made it much easier to process requests to join. As long as you are logged into your Gmail account, you will continue to have unlimited access to our online portal. Access is free and always will be. You can either access it from the link in this email or from the sidebar on MyPomerania.com. If you do not have a Google account, please register and then email us to update your login so you can access our files. It is important that you send an email rather than trying to “request permission” from Google Drive, as those requests will not process correctly. Please feel free to notify me if you have any difficulty viewing the records.
It is our sincerest hope that you will have much luck in your family history research!
Chris, My Pomerania
