Podewils, Belgard – Land Records (Grundsteuer)
These two books for Podewils entail the Grundsteuer, or property taxes, for the village. The documents list owners of land, taxable values, and include maps of some of the streets. The document for the Gemeinde are for the main area of the village whereas the book for the Gut appears to be for the manor.
Some of the pages list more information than just the standard. For example, some properties denote which Bauernhof and its number. On a rare occasion, one can discover more about individuals who are linked to each other. One such instance of this is where Albert Gutknecht mentions his brother Gustav and half-brother Karl Bast, and his father, Johann Joachim Gottlieb Gutknecht.
Unfortunately, I was not able to locate any of the original mortgage books or land registers.
