Although the civil registry for Boissin survived through the Standesamt Lenzen, church books for this village can no longer be found to assist with research prior to October 1874. However, these land registers, while missing the original two volumes, provide a glimpse into land ownership for the village of Boissin. Information found in the Grundbücher can be a valuable secondary source of information, often denoting other relatives in the earliest of entries.

Volume 3b was photographed twice due to an error, and so both sets have been made available in the event of a blurred page or other inconsistency in photographing them.

While the two earliest books could not be found while I was researching in Koszalin, there are approximately 80 documents in the Polish archives that cover the village of Boissin. Several of interest that were not photographed are the Urkunden Sammlungen from 1822 and 1845, which should list residents of the village, possibly in a Rezessakte document or other type of document conceding rights to the farmers. Other volumes in the archives cover particular Grundstücke; I am personally of the opinion that these documents probably cover the history of those particular parcels’ owners with much greater detail than the original volumes, but are perhaps more hit-and-miss in terms of which residents’ entries have survived.

Additionally, there are several volumes that cover inheritable farmers and cottagers. Several other documents appear to be Erhof files from the Third Reich, indicating inheritable farms and possibly including pages from the original Grundbücher.

In addition to the books above, of which were chosen to be photographed due to their earlier dates, these other volumes of Grundbücher can be found for Boissin in the Koszalin Archive:

  • Grundbuch von Boissin Band V Blatt 196-215
  • Grundbuch von Boissin Band VI Blatt 216-245
  • Grundbuch von Boissin Band VII Blatt 246-275
  • Grundbuch von Boissin Band VIII Blatt 276-305
  • Grundbuch von Boissin Band IX Blatt 306-312
  • Grundbuch von Boissin, Klein Dubberowscher Anteils Band I Blatt 1-5

Should anyone have and be willing to offer scans, we would be interested in continuing the trend of making these research materials available for free to the public.

Help us make these records more accessible for researchers worldwide. If you can read old script, we would love your help to make the entries in these books searchable. Please consider donating your time, even if it's just for a few pages. (We also use Google Sheets so you can see where the last person left off and where the work needs to be continued!)
