Kowanz belonged to the parish of Körlin. The church books for Körlin, however, have been lost due to the ravages and after effects of war. The Grundbücher for Kowanz help restore some of the family lineages lost, as these property records often list inheritors and family members of the property owner.

The books for Kowanz begin in the early 1800s. Some of the surnames that can be found in these books are (but are not limited to): Rackow, Müselor, Baller, Molzahn, Pagel, Neitzel, Neÿ, Häger, Bolduan, Nöske, Maaß, Zillmer, Gehrke, Laske, Technow, Timm, and Nege.

Help us make these records more accessible for researchers worldwide. If you can read old script, we would love your help to make the entries in these books searchable. Please consider donating your time, even if it's just for a few pages. (We also use Google Sheets so you can see where the last person left off and where the work needs to be continued!)
