These are the first four volumes of the Arnhausen land registers. Early church records are fragmentary between 1824 and 1848. Earlier records are difficult to read and appear to only exist as microfilm copies from 1616 to 1759 and are of poor quality; those can be found on Ancestry.com under the Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1518-1921 (Deutschland, ausgewählte evangelische Kirchenbücher 1518-1921) collection under the author “Evangelische Kirche Bad Sulza (AG. Apolda),” which must have been the other church on the microfilm roll. It seems it has since been sorted under “Belgard” in the drop-down sidebar menu.

More of these Grundbücher volumes exist. However, these were the most pertinent to obtain given the timeframe prior to the Standesamt, which has luckily survived.

Although the books are sorted under Arnhausen, they appear to also contain records of those who lived in the nearby Röhlshof.

Help us make these records more accessible for researchers worldwide. If you can read old script, we would love your help to make the entries in these books searchable. Please consider donating your time, even if it's just for a few pages. (We also use Google Sheets so you can see where the last person left off and where the work needs to be continued!)
